Brief description:
In order for a psychologist to be entitled to perform professional activities, he or she must be registered in the public Register of Psychologists.
Beneficiaries:

Persons who have obtained a higher education diploma for the acquisition of an accredited bachelor's study programme and an accredited master's study programme in psychology of at least 200 credits (at least one of these programmes must be a professional study programme) may be entered in the psychological register.

A decision regarding registration shall be taken within one month from the date of receipt of the application.

1. solis / Submission of documents to register a psychologist
In order for a psychologist to be registered in the Register of Psychologists, the following documents shall be submitted to the State Service of Education Quality
submission (addressed to the Board of Certification of Psychologists);
copies of the documents certifying education.

The State fee for recording a psychologist in the register shall be EUR 10.

The State fee shall be transferred to the Education Quality Service account:

before the person (Psychologist) is registered.

The Board of Certification of Psychologists shall, prior to taking a decision, request and obtain information from the competent authorities, officials, including the Cabinet and Population Register, investigating authorities, prosecutors' offices, courts, in order to ascertain that the person is not subject to the prohibition of professional activity of a psychologist specified in Section 6 of the Law On Psychologists.

Within three working days after taking of the decision of the Board of Certification of Psychologists, an official of the State Education Quality Service shall make an entry in the Register of Psychologists in State Education information system: https://www.viis.gov.lv/registri/psihologi.

5. solis / Issuance of a psychologist registration certificate
Upon the request of a person, the official shall issue a psychologist registration certificate within a period of 10 working days.
