Residents of Latvia who have the right to work in the profession of pharmacist or pharmacist assistant and who want to work in the profession of pharmacist or pharmacist assistant abroad may need recognition of professional qualifications in the foreign state in which the person wishes to work. The competent institution of the receiving State may request a certified statement issued by the Latvian Pharmacist Society (hereinafter - LFB) to the person, in which it is certified:

• the right of a person to act in the profession of pharmacist or pharmacist assistant regulated in the Republic of Latvia, on the basis of appropriate professional qualifications;
• the professional experience of a person in the profession of pharmacist or pharmacist assistant regulated in the Republic of Latvia;
• that a person has not been deprived or restricted from the right to act in the profession of pharmacist or pharmacist assistant regulated in the Republic of Latvia due to professional offences or criminal offences (good repute statement).

The Latvian Pharmacist Society, in accordance with Regulation No. 128 of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 14.02.2006, Regulations Regarding Institutions, which Issues the Officials of the Republic of Latvia the necessary documents for the recognition of their professional qualifications in foreign states, and Procedures for Issuing these Documents, shall issue to residents of the Republic of Latvia the necessary documents (certificates) for the recognition of their professional qualifications in the profession of pharmacist or assistant in foreign states.. Generating statements is a fee service. The amount of the fee depends on the content of the information included (the total fee is the amount for all individual sections of the information):

- EUR 15,46 if the document is to include information on the right of a person to pursue a regulated profession in the Republic of Latvia on the basis of an appropriate professional qualification;
- EUR 37,59, if the document is to include information on the professional experience of a person in the profession regulated in the Republic of Latvia;
- EUR 30,21 if the document must contain information that the person has not been deprived or restricted from the right to pursue a regulated profession in the Republic of Latvia due to professional offences or criminal offences.

In order to obtain the information necessary for the recognition of professional qualifications abroad, the person shall submit the following documents TO THE LFB:

- the form of the application completed (application);
- a copy of the passport or ID (presenting the original), if not submitted to the register of pharmacists and pharmacist assistants;
- a copy of the diploma of the pharmacist/pharmacist assistant (presenting the original), if not submitted to the register of pharmacists and pharmacist assistants;
- a copy of the statement of the name, change of surname, if the diploma has been issued before the name has been changed.

The certified statements shall be drawn up within 15 days of receipt of all the necessary documents.
LFB certificates shall be issued in Latvian or English.
Period of validity of the certified statements: 3 months from the date of their issue.

An application and documents may be submitted during working days, during the reception of visitors to the Latvian Pharmacists' Society on Pils Street 21, in Riga in a personal or postal letter, or in an eletronic, documents signed with a secure electronic signature (eParaksta) - lfb@farmaceitubiedriba.lv
