If you are in an accident or have an injury, consider the situation and take appropriate action. In the event of a disease, minor injury or medical advice, assistance may be sought to:

1. family doctor,
2. emergency doctor, or
3. direct Accessibility Specialist.

Outside the working time of family doctors, medical advice can also be obtained by calling the National Organised Family Doctors Advisory Phone 66016001. The phone is not charged - when calling from a fixed phone or mobile phone, the caller will pay according to the rates charged by his or her operator.

If a very serious injury has occurred or if there is a sudden illness and emergency medical attention is needed immediately, call the emergency telephone of the NMP service 113.

Unified emergency phone

112 is Europe's single emergency phone. This phone can be called free of charge from both a fixed phone and a mobile phone anywhere in the European Union (EU). You can make calls at any time of the day, including without a SIM card, including from mobile phones that have expired telephone credit. This will connect you to the operational services (police, emergency services, firefighters).

To phone number 112 calls should be made in cases where there is a danger to life, health, safety, the environment or property.

Call if:

1. a fire has occurred;
2. medical assistance is required;
3. police are required;
4. the smell of gas;
5. road accident;

8. an accident at the workplace;
9. the collapse of the building has occurred;

The police

It is the duty of the State Police to protect the lives, health, rights and freedoms, property, public and state interests of persons from criminal and other illegal threats. We organise our work on the basis of legality, humanity, human rights, social justice, openness, uniformity, and on the basis of citizens' assistance. The rights and legitimate interests of persons shall be protected regardless of their nationality, social, property and other positions, race and nationality, sex and age, education and language, religion, political and other beliefs. The State Police has five regional authorities responsible for the implementation of the priorities for police work and for ensuring access to the population of the police.

The tasks of the State Police shall be:

• guaranteeing the safety of persons and of the public;
• the prevention of criminal offences and other criminal offences;
• detection of criminal offences, search for persons who committed criminal offences;
• to provide assistance to institutions, individuals and associations of persons in accordance with the procedures provided for by law in the protection of their rights and in the exercise of duties specified by law;

Emergency Medical Service

The NMP free emergency phone 113, should be called in situations where human life is at risk and emergency medical assistance is crucial for minutes – there has been a very serious injury or there is a sudden illness and urgent medical treatment is needed immediately.

NMP Service medics shall call if:

1. is unconscious,
2. stop breathing or develop sudden breathing problems,
3. there are serious injuries or severe bleeding that threaten life,
4. there is sudden pain behind the breast that may indicate a heart infarction,
5. there is a one-side sudden weakness that can signal a stroke,
6. other life threatening situations.

Gas emergency service

The gas emergency service must be called by a free phone number of 114 in cases where a natural gas leak has occurred or the smell of gas has occurred. Marine search and rescue service

If there is an accident on the water, shipping or your family has not returned from rest to water, call the Naval Search and Rescue Coordination Centre on the telephone 115. The phone is free. Also call rescuers if you find a mine, a torpedo, a projectile, and other dangerous objects, including a chemical object, which may endanger human life. Finding suspicious objects off the coast or at sea is a common and dangerous phenomenon and therefore safety measures should be taken for the safety of their own and their surrounding lives, but the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre should be informed promptly of the object found. Hotline for missing children

If a child is missing in Latvia or in one of the Member States of the European Union, it shall be reported on the free phone 116000. In each of the countries, the caller will be connected to the responsible authority or body that will provide information on the follow-up. In Latvia, the State Police has the right to implement and service this phone. The Service shall accept calls for missing children and shall provide advice and support to persons responsible for the missing child.

If the child has been illegally taken or detained by one of the parents (by denying the other parent the possibility of exercising custody and access rights), both national and international law rules shall be infringed. Hotline for victims of crime

By calling the free phone number 116006, you have the possibility to receive support and information if you have suffered a crime, you are a victim's family, an eyewitness of the crime, or have been involved in the crime.

5. Internet violence,
6. repeated threats of violence,
7. domestic violence,

Protection of the rights of the child

The Crisis Intervention Team of the National Children's Rights Protection Inspectorate, or Crisis Team, is a specially trained group of professionals to provide psychological assistance in crisis situations. It can provide operational psychological assistance at the time of particularly serious accidents or tragedies. Services are also available on the website of the Child Rights Inspectorate:

Child safety on the road

To make sure that the child is a knowledgeable and skilled road user, it is worth paying attention to the specifically developed information resources for children on the road.

Traffic accidents

Food

Food safety is the responsibility of the food business, first the manufacturer, then the transporter and ultimately the distributor (trader or caterer). Safe or safe foods shall be:

In the event of a variety of disasters, pandemics or war, everybody's usual and self-evident cases – electricity, mobile, may be closed shops, petrol stations, ATM machines, etc. - so it is important to know how to take action in such cases to protect their lives and health and protect their surroundings.

The best way to protect yourself and your family is to prepare for any crisis in good time:

In the event of a lack of means of communication, refer to the nearest responsible national or local authority.

In the event of a crisis, it is important to help not only yourself but others, and it is therefore essential that:

• to remain calm;
• to comply with the orders of the responsible services;
• assisting relatives;
• to find out whether neighbours and people side-by-side need help;
• to engage as a volunteer, to provide support;
• provide support in the first days with their knowledge and skills, materials for technical means and resources, psychological support for victims, support for families participating in risk management, or otherwise assistance;
• where possible, to continue work, particularly when employed in an institution or undertaking providing a community with critical services: electricity, communications, medical treatment, etc.

Supply yourself with the required supplies of water, food and medical supplies, and prepare an emergency bag by putting things in it that would be needed in case of evacuation. They are:

• documents and important information (a list of identity documents, important telephone numbers, a portable radio with spare batteries, a small amount of cash, a watertight pad and stationery);
• food and water (long-term and high-calorie food, multi-purpose knife, spoon, safety bowl and cup, drinking water in plastic bottles for at least 3 days, dry alcohol stove, water filter and disinfecting tablets);
• cases for heat and light (spare chargers, power bank, matches, lighters, candles, lights, batteries, warm clothing, comfortable shoes and spare underwear, sleeping bags or blankets, tourist mats, preferably tents);
• other important items (tape, thread, needle, scissors, stationery, towel, toilet paper, disposable napkins, disinfectant, hygiene accessories, medicines used (copies of recipes); first aid kit, spare glasses or contact lenses).

In the event of a crisis, the responsible services (soldiers, policemen, emergency officers, firefighters, border guards) will carry out the evacuation, provide medical assistance and respond to public order. Employees of the responsible services will always be accompanied by a service certificate.

It is important to know your responsibilities in the event of a military threat:

• defending national independence, freedom and democratic State equipment (citizens may be recruited into military service);
• to comply with the orders of the responsible services, for example, to engage in rescue operations or to transfer (mobilize) the technical means necessary to protect the State;
• continue to comply with the laws.

If, in the event of hostilities, you are in the occupied territory:

• evacuate to that part of the country controlled by the NBS;
• continue to comply with the laws of the Republic of Latvia;
• do not cooperate with the occupation authority:
• separate from their decisions and activities;
• do not participate in the public events of their organisers, without giving interviews and preventing themselves from filming;
• do not participate in illegal elections, referendums or popular voting.

Action if the responsible services have notified the evacuation:
