The dog must be registered:

• before disposal (sale, gift, return),
• if the dog is temporarily removed from the country,
• if it participates in exhibitions,
• reaching 4 months of age.

In order to register the pet, the following documents are required:

• pet passport or vaccination certificate,
• registration Form,
• identity document of the owner.

If the animal has been purchased or presented, it must be checked before registration whether the animal has already been registered in a single national database by entering the microchip number of the animal Animal register of the agricultural data centre.

The owner of the pet may perform the registration:

electronically:

• when performing an e-service Initial registration of a home (room) animal,
• by submitting documents electronically, signed with a secure electronic signature and sending to the Agricultural Data Centre via e-address or to e-mail ldc@ldc.gov.lv .

on-site:

• Agricultural data centre,
• Ministry of Agriculture customer service centres,
• a veterinarian (if such a service is provided),
• National and local government customer service centres.

Registration fee

Registration fees should be paid in accordance with Agricultural Data Centre Price List.

Events - change of owner, change of holding location, disappearance, finding, death - shall be registered:

When selecting and executing e-service portal www.latvija.lv:

• Registered domestic (pet) animal registration change of ownership
• Registration of death or euthanasia of registered domestic (indoor) animal
• Registration of finding or losing of registered domestic (indoor) animal
• Registration of address change of registered domestic (indoor) animal housing

When submitting documents electronically with a secure electronic signature and sending Message Page on a registered animal to an e-address or e-mail of the Agricultural Data Centre ldc@ldc.gov.lv.

Necessary documents for recording events in person:

1. pet passport or vaccination certificate,
2. message Form on events with the pet,
3. identity document of the owner.

Each dog in Latvia must have a vaccination certificate or a European Union pet passport containing a microchip number. Only travel with a European Union passport.

The agricultural data centre database is included in "Europetnet" system, which means that a dog lost abroad can be quickly found and returned to his rightful owner.
