The European Union (EU) provides funding to Latvia for the implementation of programmes and projects in various areas, such as regional and urban development, employment and social inclusion, agriculture and rural development, maritime and fisheries policy, research and innovation and other areas.
Different potential beneficiaries (e.g. citizens, entrepreneurs, non-governmental organisations, scientific bodies, researchers, farmers and fishers) may apply for this support under different programmes when implementing the project or participating in a programme providing support for EU funds.
Latvia, as an EU Member State, receives this financial assistance within the framework of the Cohesion Policy, which is the most important EU investment policy to help create jobs, support business competitiveness, economic growth, sustainable development and improve the quality of life of citizens.
